For nearly 17 years I’ve been helping leaders and teams to help themselves and others to be more successful, more satisfied and more capable. I’ve been lucky enough to work with an incredible variety of people in organisations like Anglo American, BG Group, Britvic, Dell Computers, Dept of Work & Pensions, Gilead, Invensys, Kcom, Munich Re, National Grid, QBE, TalkTalk and TUI Travel.
The foundation to my coaching is a positive belief in people. People do not need to be fixed. As humans we have incredible potential when we find the right mechanisms to release it.
This belief is combined with a comprehensive knowledge of psychology and neuroscience. People make decisions across the whole span of their lifetimes, amnion which they are unaware of. These unconscious assumptions and habitual attitudes limit them in their potential and in some cases, derail them from their careers. Bringing these into our awareness gives us new choices, new possibilities. Recent research in neuroscience also gives us new tools we can use to better enable us as leaders.
I’ve also learned that to address challenges in ways that stick within organisations, we need a systemic perspective. To this end both 1:1 and team engagements involve a robust feedback process involving the relevant stakeholders.
These are the three essentials that make up the foundation of my coaching practice. Clients need a trusted space where they can explore their thinking fully and it’s my job as a coach to create that. I comply with the joint code of ethics defined by the Association of Coaching & European Mentoring and Coaching Council.
